First Anniversary for 1st Slinfold and Farlington Rainbows
06 Feb 2013
1st Slinfold and Farlington Rainbows had their first anniversary in September 2012. Our Rainbows range between 5 and 7 and come from Slinfold, Warnham, Itchingfield as well as Farlington School.
We had a very busy first year looking at Festivals, Rainbows Around the World, celebrating the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics. Our day at the Rainbow Guiding Games at Blacklands Farm was great we made torches, played lots of games and met Rainbows from around the country.
Every week is different at Rainbows, but we always have fun!
This January after much anticipation, 2nd Slinfold and Farlington Brownies had their first meeting. We opened with 12 Brownies and expect to have 15 by the end of term. Our Brownies are 7 and 8 years old and come from Billingshurst, Warnham, Slinfold and also Farlington School. We are very fortunate to have been donated an old toadstool from a former Brownie pack, it is now renovated and is already spreading its Brownie magic.
At our first meeting we had a pow wow, where the girls discussed and voted on their pack colour. Pam Leadbeater the Horsham District Commissioner for Girl Guides and Mrs Baggs, Farlington Prep School Headmistress, came to inaugurate the first meeting. This term we will be doing our World Guiding and Wildlife Explorer badges. At the end of term the Brownies will join the Rainbows for a trip Warnham Nature reserve to discover the beauties of British wildlife.
If anyone is interested in joining either Rainbows or Brownies as a child or adult volunteer helper, please contact Mrs Ashton on 07583 321474 for more information.
