Southbank Kensington celebrates exceptional ISI inspection report!

In October 2024, Southbank Kensington welcomed Independent School Inspectors who inspect schools in the following standards:

We’re delighted to share with you a link to the final report which includes all the wonderfully positive things inspectors noted on their visit, and is a true reflection of our school!

Not only were all standards met but we are very proud to share that we were awarded a very rare ‘significant strength’ judgement as a result of creating conditions in a school where students thrive. Inspectors noted that leaders ‘promote values of inclusivity, consideration and respect consistently and successfully’ and have helped establish ‘a community in which pupils feel safe and secure, knowing that they are accepted, valued and cared for, regardless of the challenges they may be facing’.

David MacMorran, Southbank Kensington Principal said of the report:

“We are extremely proud of our learning community, particularly our students and staff who shone in the inspection. This feedback deserves a huge “thank you” to our teachers for their tireless efforts to maintain our exceptional standards of teaching and learning.”

The report reflects our school’s mission and values throughout, particularly that we aim to treat every individual with fairness and respect and celebrate diversity, and they acknowledged that our curriculum and daily activities;

‘enable older pupils to develop a wide-ranging knowledge and understanding of the diverse cultures which make up their own community and that of the wider world. As a result, pupils acquire a mature appreciation of the ways in which they can benefit from learning about each other’s cultures and faiths.”

We were pleased that the inspectors saw what we see everyday in that our teachers and enable our students to make good progress through:

‘effective use of assessment data and observations to identify pupils’ individual learning needs and determine how best to adapt their teaching, using the wide range of resources available to support them.’

We know that our IB programme offers a pathway for all students to excel and thrive, not only during their time at school, but also in their future careers. Inspectors noted this too:

‘From the early years onwards, (where) pupils learn to routinely plan and execute their own projects and investigations, developing skills that are likely to stand them in good stead in the workplace’

We’re incredibly proud of the fact that inspected noticed how we have created a culture of belonging and inclusion where leaders and teachers:

‘Shape provision to reflect their understanding that pupil’s pastoral wellbeing is an essential prerequisite for learning’ and that they ‘prioritise this from the start when new children join the school so that ‘they can engage in learning immediately with a considerable sense of security.’
