Wrekin College has been named by the Duke Edinburgh’s Award as one of the best performing schools.
Thanks to all of the hard work, especially on completion, Wrekin College has been named by the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as one its best performing schools.
Mr Francis Jones gives us an insight into why he thinks Wrekin College does so well.
We have a strong culture of D of E at Wrekin
D of E is part of the ‘Value Added’ package we provide
Expeditions are exciting and affordable
Pupils see the merits of having a D of E Award
Parents actively encourage D of E
School fully supports D of E so it is almost seen as part of the curriculum but voluntary
Pupils greatly enjoy doing the Award, gain new experience enjoy and benefit from the voluntary work in the community
Pupils are keen to do what their older brothers and sisters did
Pupils remember the thrill of the Bronze expedition and want to progress to Silver and Gold
Pupils see the value for UCAS and their personal development and CV
The Expeditions are one of the few activities where pupils go it alone without a member of staff being with them.
Well done everyone!
