Excellent results for Lucton School

Lucton School celebrates another year of excellent GCSE and A level exam results.

Almost half of all A levels taken achieved A* – B grades with three quarters at A* to C.

Almost half of all GCSE exams were graded A*or A, significantly above the national average, with three-quarters of the students completing their GCSEs achieving 5 A* to C grades including English and Maths.

Head of Sixth Form, John Goode, praised his pupils’ success, saying, “I am absolutely delighted. Our pupils have worked so hard and most are now heading to their first choice university, many to top Russell Group universities.”

Lucton’s Headmistress, Mrs Gill Thorne, is delighted by the results. “Being a mixed ability school, we are used to variable results, but any school would be proud of these grades. Again, I am particularly pleased with Lucton’s performance in the sciences. We have a 100% pass rate in the separate sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) and 72% of these results were either A* or A grades. These are subjects that universities value particularly highly and the statistics are quite remarkable, also, for the third year running, Chemistry achieved 100% A* to B.”

Lucton School and Sixth Form is home to around 350 pupils and the Headmistress, Mrs Gill Thorne, credits Lucton’s exam success to its size, stating, “We are able to personalise programmes of study and tuition, tailoring these to each student and coupled with outstanding teaching, means that Lucton provides an excellent education.”
