Epsom rounds off stellar year with more awards recognition

Epsom College is a finalist in two separate categories at this year’s Education Business Awards, capping off what has been an exceptional year for the school.

The College’s outstanding sports programme has been shortlisted by the judges, who praised the school for its commitment to providing expert coaching and first class facilities for pupils of all ages and abilities.

In a year of many garlands, Epsom’s STEM programme once again turned heads. Judges were impressed by the enthusiastic, creative and illuminating way in which the disciplines of science, maths, engineering and technology are brought together to enthuse, entertain and educate pupils.

The Education Business Awards are now in their twelfth year. They recognise and reward excellence in education across 22 different categories, with particular focus paid to academic progress, facilities, best practice and innovation.

Prep Schools, State Schools and Independent School compete with one another for the coveted awards, with the winners announced on 5 July.

Epsom began this academic year by posting record GCSE and A-level results. This achievement was soon recognised nationally, with a nod from The Week, which judged the College among the ‘Best of the Best’ in the UK.

Before Michaelmas Term was out, The Times Education Supplement had confirmed Epsom as runners-up for two of its Independent Schools Awards – for its work in STEM, and its innovative use of digital technology across the whole school curriculum.

Mr Jay Piggot, Headmaster, said, “I am pleased that the achievements of the pupils and the significant advancement of learning across the College has been pulled more sharply into focus by the range of awards and recognition attained this year.”
