CLC students achieve exceptional GCSE results
Students at Cheltenham Ladies’ College are celebrating outstanding GCSE results, with 84% of pupils achieving seven or more A* / 9-8 grades
Across the cohort 44% have been awarded the highest possible 9 grade (compared with the national average of 5%), and more than four in every five results (86%) have been awarded A*-A / 9-7 grades.
“We are thrilled by this set of outstanding GCSE results and very proud of how hard our pupils have worked to achieve them. But the real pride comes in also knowing the individual stories behind each of these successes. Alongside their GCSE studies, all of our UC5 cohort have developed in a whole range of ways – whether competing in regional, county or national sporting events, taking the stage for memorable Drama performances, contributing to their community through charitable work, overcoming nerves at a debating competition or completing their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award. A significant number of pupils also undertook a Higher Project Qualification (HPQ), for which they achieved 94% A*-A grades. Our pupils have shown great strength of character and a sense of fun throughout their two years in Upper College; we could not be happier to celebrate every one of their achievements.”
Principal Eve Jardine-Young said:
“I am extremely proud of the dedication shown by our pupils and delighted that their hard work has culminated in the excellent results we see today. My thanks also go to our incredible teaching, pastoral and support staff, for the unwavering support and guidance they have given the pupils thus far; helping them to achieve this remarkable success in their studies, and also inspiring them to pursue their passions outside of the classroom. We look forward to seeing this cohort continue to flourish as they enter the next phase of their education at Sixth Form.”
