Church High pupils say ‘Thank you for the Music’

Infant pupils from Church High School in Jesmond received a standing ovation from parents and staff as they performed the wonderful musical adaptation of ‘Thank you for the Music’ to a packed audience, recently.
Toes were tapping to the melody and people sang along to the moving song lyrics, as the pupils gave a fantastic show in celebration of the many musical accolades of Church High.
Music has played a huge part in life at Church High School and the performance was a round-up of all the many experiences the children have enjoyed, from recorder groups and percussion, to choir, orchestra and dance.
Church High will merge with neighbouring Central High this September to form Newcastle High School for Girls, and musical activities are set to play a big part in life at the innovative new School.
Jill Brown, Head of Church High junior school said: “Music has a special quality in that it helps to bring everyone together and has an important role to play in building children’s confidence. The recent performances of ‘Thank you for the Music’ left everyone in a happy and celebratory mood looking back on all the wonderful musical treats Church High has served up but looking forward to a very exciting future as part of Newcastle High School for Girls.
“The infant girls have worked very hard on the performances and they should all be extremely proud of themselves.”
