CHRIST COLLEGE PUPILS SHOW ALL ROUND STAR QUALITY

09 Nov 2015

Pupils receiving their GCSE results at Christ College demonstrated that both sides of their brains are equally well-developed, with outstanding results in both technical and creative subjects. 88% of all pupils who took Art GCSE and 85% of all those taking Photography achieved A or A* grades, confirming the college’s strong reputation for Creative Arts, while many of the same pupils achieved very strong results for Maths (34% of all grades at the top A* grade) and science (59% of all grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics were at A or A* grades). Information and Communication Technology also saw strong performances, with 83% of all grades at A or A*.
Overall the A*-C pass rate was 92.4%, with 45% A* and A grades across all subjects. 98% of pupils achieved 5 or more GCSE passes at A*-C.
Christ College encourages breadth and balance in the subjects pupils study and in their wider educational programme, and this was evident from the top performances of local pupils such as Aisling Tarpey, from Cradoc, whose 9A* and 2A grades included Music, Spanish and three separate sciences. Milo Welch, from Glasbury, and Julia Copp, from Brecon, were close behind with 8 A*, 2 A and 1B grades. Boarders Amy Baker and Alice Lilley also gained a fine crop of grades, with 10A*s, 9 As and a B between them, while Catie Masters, Amy Houghton and Maya Lewis were also among the top performers at the school.
Head of Christ College, Emma Taylor, said ‘All our top performing pupils will be returning to sit A levels at Christ College, and we look forward to seeing them build strongly on these excellent results in their final two years of school. I am equally proud of a number of pupils who have gained strong results while also pursuing other areas of excellence, such as international athletes Amelia Reynolds and Issy Morris. Congratulations to the whole group on their well-deserved success.’
