Bromsgrove School Hockey – National Finals

11 Feb 2014

Bromsgrove School was very proud to have two teams playing at the National Indoor Hockey Finals in January. The U16 boys and U18 girls had made it through the regional rounds to each be one of ten teams from across the country competing for the national title.

Bromsgrove School was delighted to be hosting the U16 and U18 girls’ tournaments in the spacious new sports arena with seating for 500 spectators. The home team, competing in the U18 tournament, embarked on their campaign but they met some very strong competition and sadly didn’t make it through to the final stages.  The crowd of home supporters gave a huge boost to the team who came away proud but disappointed.  The U16 boys competed at Whitgift School where they played well to get to the final against a talented side from Exeter School. Exeter were the best opposition in the tournament and had enjoyed a 100% record which was not to be broken in the final and our team lost by the narrowest of margins, 2-1, ending the competition as national runners-up.  Meanwhile at the Prep School, Bromsgrove U13A boys’ team were crowned winners at the Foremarke Hall tournament, showing great promise for the future.
