08 May 2020
U11 swimmers from Bromsgrove School took part in the 25th English Schools’ National Swimming Finals at the Ponds Forge International Swimming Pool in Sheffield.
In the Girls’ U11 Medley relay, the team of Alice Wilson-Marsh, Isla Goold, Meghan Higgs and Jessica Fox qualified through to the ‘B’ Final in 8th place. In the Final, the girls changed tactics, beating their qualifying time by over a second in a time of 1.12.01 minutes which fantastically resulted in them achieving 1st position. This ranks them 9th in the Country overall which is a superb achievement.
The U11 boys qualified in the ‘A’ Medley and Freestyle relays. Beau Vaughan-Hawkins, Oliver Dieppe, Oliver Cattell and Henry Foster swam magnificently in a time of 1.08.84 minutes to come 4th in the Medley relay, narrowly missing out on the podium. In the Freestyle relay, the boys swam their hearts out to come in bronze medal position and 3rd in the Country.
Congratulations to everyone who swam, especially Alice Wilson-Marsh who just missed out on the School record in 25m back crawl by 6 hundredths of a second. Henry Foster beat the School record for the 25m freestyle that has stood since 2008, in a time of 15.08 seconds.
Bromsgrove’s U11 boys broke the Freestyle relay School record that was incredibly set back in 1999 in a time of 60.16 seconds. This is a phenomenal achievement and huge congratulations go to Oliver Dieppe, Beau Vaughan-Hawkins, Henry Foster and Oliver Cattell.
