Bromsgrove Prep School Collaborate With Parkside Middle School On Art Project

19 Jul 2018

Sarah Cheuk, Head of Art at Parkside Middle School and Victoria Barron, Head of Art at Bromsgrove Preparatory School, have been collaborating on a group Art project, with twenty-one Year 8 pupils at the two schools.

Using the theme ‘Sealife’, the pupils worked together to create a twenty piece ceramic tile display. The work featured at Bromsgrove’s Art Exhibition on Friday 15th June, and will be at Parkside during July. This collaborative artwork will then be on display at the Public Library, Bromsgrove Town Centre throughout the summer.

Commenting on the project, Bromsgrove’s Head of Art Victoria Barron said “The arts are best shared and enjoyed with others, which can start from the very basis of idea formation for a new project. The wonderful concepts that are generated within collaborative processes, always seem more exciting and relationships can form where they otherwise may not have. Both schools working together has been beneficial for us all and pupils from both our schools, enjoyed our regular group making sessions that we began in April this year. Using images from the sea, we all explored colour and texture, relaying fascinating and mysterious sea creatures that we need to look after in today’s environmentally challenging, throwaway plastic world. We learnt a lot from working with each other and our creative processes were enhanced through sharing practice. The ceramic results were absolutely beautiful and we could not be any more proud of all the pupils that were involved. We are looking forward to further projects in the future.”
