22 Apr 2018

Bromsgrove Preparatory School is celebrating after three of its netball teams have made it through to the National Finals.

Recently, the U13, U12 and U11 netball teams travelled to Uppingham School for the IAPS Regional netball competition.

The U12 team played a round robin tournament with 6 other schools. The girls were crowned IAPS Regional Champions after a superb afternoon of netball where they didn’t lose a game.

The U13s were in one section of four groups. They came runners up in their group to make it through to the quarter finals against King’s Ely who were winners of section E. Bromsgrove played some brilliant netball to win 14-7 taking them through to the semi-finals against Spratton Hall. Working well as a team, they secured the victory 13-5 and a place in the final against St Olaves and were already through to National finals.

In the final, the girls were down 7 – 2 and were unable to recover in the second half, losing 16–5 which gave them Regional runners up silver medals. The U11s played 10 matches in total, winning 7 and losing just 3 to secure a place in the National finals. Congratulations to all.

Jenny Danks, Head of Girls’ PE and Games at the School said “We are delighted that this is the first time the School has reached the IAPS National netball finals with all three teams together. A total of 410 schools across the UK enter this competition so we are very proud to compete amongst the best teams in the country at the Basildon Sporting Village in Essex.
