Bromsgrove IB students host tea party for residents

02 May 2018

On Tuesday 20th April 2018, IB students from Bromsgrove School hosted their annual “Easter Tea Party” for local care home residents at Housman Hall.

Twenty care home residents from two residential homes enjoyed an afternoon of Easter crafting, a generous spread of tea and cakes and musical accompaniment by Bromsgrove’s talented students.

They even managed an impromptu rendition of “The White Cliffs of Dover” in honour of Dame Vera Lynn’s 101st birthday! The feedback from the care homes has been extremely positive: they were especially impressed by the Easter decorations on the table (origami flowers and crochet bunnies) which had been lovingly created by the students themselves.

It was fantastic to see lots of Housman students chipping in ad hoc, generously helping set up and clear away afterwards, as well as welcoming guests to the School courteously and warmly. All of the elderly guests, as well as the staff who accompanied them commented on how wonderful the “young people” had been, bringing many of the quieter residents out of their shells.
