Bromsgrove Hockey Boys Win Regional Championship
23 Apr 2013
Bromsgrove School’s U14 boys hockey team have been crowned Midlands Champions following a strong performance at the Midlands Finals.
Following mixed fortunes in the playoffs, Bromsgrove fought their way through to the semi final against King Edward’s School, Birmingham. In the first half, King Edward’s had the majority of the possession and territory but a break-away goal put Bromsgrove 1-0 up at half time. A goal soon after half time gave the momentum to move forwards more freely and the confidence to bury the game with a late goal, winning 3-0. Bromsgrove faced Repton School in the final and with a much improved defensive performance battled some early pressure to achieve a counter attack goal, putting them 1-0 up at the break. With confidence high, an immediate goal after half time gave Bromsgrove the chance to break away, and they were able to hang on until prior to the final whistle where, despite Repton scoring a consolation goal, Bromsgrove were the champions.
Coach Mr Langlands said: “Congratulations to the boys who are Midlands Champions and go forwards to the National Finals in April.”
