Bishop Andrew of Reading visited LVS Ascot on Monday 3rd October, and praised the school for its generosity in being the largest contributors to the Bracknell Food Bank whilst addressing pupils at the Harvest Festival celebrations.

Bishop Andrew, who was a guest along with visiting Bishop Pushpa Lalitha from India, said: “It was a fantastically well-organised celebration and I love that the pupils collected so many items for the Bracknell Food Bank. I am really impressed that LVS Ascot is the biggest collector of goods for the bank”.

A service conducted by LVS Ascot’s Reverend Tracey Williams saw junior school pupils at the independent all-through school, where pupils can begin aged 4 and stay until they are 18, perform a series of presentations and performances relating to Harvest Festival. Each year group from Reception to Year 6 had the opportunity to practice their performing skills as they presented themes such as where food comes from and talked about the lack of access to clean water in some parts of the world.

Pat Hallett from Bracknell Food Bank was also present and was once again thrilled by the large contribution from LVS Ascot. She said: “We collect contributions from thirty schools and thirty churches, and the biggest donation we receive each year is from LVS Ascot. Thank you so much for your generosity”.

Reverend Tracey said: “LVS Ascot is a school that loves to help with pupils brought up to enjoy the opportunity to share with others. It was an honour to host the Bishop of Reading and Bishop Pushpa today and our pupils responded brilliantly by putting on a series of thought-provoking performances for them”.

Bishop Andrew and Bishop Pushpa also conducted a Harvest Festival service for LVS Ascot’s senior school and sixth form, before joining pupils at one of LVS Ascot’s quiet days at Ascot Priory which gives pupils the opportunity to enjoy peace, meditation and take part in activities such as art and thinking skills.
