Belmont School – Weather Week
09 Jul 2015
We have just completed ‘Weather Week’ which has been fabulous.
The week involved the whole school and included a drama production, a talk by Ian Currie, lab experiments for the whole school, constructing, painting and equipping two weather boxes, programming of raspberry Pi’s to record weather and building emergency shelters in our woods. We had over a dozen parents come into school to deliver sessions and support including a farmer, a pilot, a newspaper reporter and several business and advertising specialists. Year 8 had to plan, invent, produce, advertise and market a smoothie drink. They went to Denbies to see how it was done. Any profit made was donated to the school charity for this year ‘Sightsavers’.
The new school weather vane which was designed by the children will arrive soon.
