Lingfield Celebrates Exceptional A Level and BTEC Success
Lingfield College is delighted to announce the achievements of our Sixth Form students in the 2024 A Level and BTEC results. Once again, they have demonstrated their brilliance, achieving outstanding results across a diverse range of subjects.
The Class of 2024’s hard work and dedication have been rewarded with exceptional outcomes. 80% of all grades achieved were A* to B and D* to M (BTEC) and 42% of A Level grades awarded at A* or A. Additionally, almost half of all BTEC grades were awarded the top marks of Distinction or Distinction* and ten students achieved three As or better, highlighting the high academic standards of this cohort. We are also proud to announce a 100% pass rate across all A-Level subjects, with particularly strong results in Physics, English Literature and Mathematics. Furthermore, 92% of students heading to university have secured a place at their first-choice destination, including Bristol, Exeter and Imperial College London to pursue a wide variety of courses such as Filmmaking, Biotechnology with Enterprise, and Materials Science and Engineering.
Headmaster Richard Bool shared his pride, saying, “These results are a testament to the remarkable ambition and unique talents of each student. They have not only embraced every opportunity but have shown exceptional growth in character and resilience. At Lingfield, we are committed to nurturing not just academic excellence but also the personal development of each individual. This year’s achievements, along with the diverse paths and opportunities now open to our students, beautifully illustrate what can be accomplished when that ethos is fully embraced.”
He added, “These achievements would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication of our fantastic teaching staff. Their commitment to fostering an environment where each student can thrive is at the heart of our success.”
The Head of Sixth Form, Alison Folkard, echoed this sentiment: “I couldn’t be prouder of this year’s cohort; their success is richly deserved. It’s been a privilege to witness their journey and watch them develop confidence and a sense of purpose. I am thrilled to see them move on to the next exciting chapter, whether at university, in sought-after apprenticeships or exploring the world. This diversity of ambition is a hallmark of the well-rounded education we strive to provide here at Lingfield.”
Among the students celebrating great successes this year is Jessica, who achieved three A*s and an A* in her EPQ and will read English Literature at Durham University, and Christopher, who secured a Degree Apprenticeship after achieving three A*s and an A.
Reflecting on her experience at the School, Jessica said, “I joined Lingfield in year 12 after attending an all-girls school, so this was my first experience at a mixed school. It was such a refreshing and relaxed environment to join. The teachers are incredibly supportive and approachable, I felt comfortable talking to them about everything.”
Alongside Jessica, Art and Academic Scholar Max achieved an A*, A, and B and plans to attend Southampton University to read Aeronautical Engineering with the ultimate ambition of becoming a Formula One Aerodynamicist. He offered sage advice to students starting their A Levels, “Being smart can only get you so far; you do need to put in the hard work at A Level, but at Lingfield, there really are no limitations to what you can achieve.”
As we celebrate these fantastic results, we are reminded of the core values that make Lingfield College a special place: a commitment to academic excellence, a nurturing and supportive community, and a focus on developing well-rounded individuals ready to contribute positively to society.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our students, their families, and our dedicated staff who have supported them along the way. We look forward to seeing the exciting futures that await the Class of 2024.
