Wellington School Pupil Shoots to Glory
16 Sep 2016
A Wellington School pupil has shot to glory in a European Championship.
Champion Clay shooter Theo Ling, Year 11) in on track form the 2020 Olympics after winning an individual bronze medal at the European Olympic Trap Championship in Italy. Theo’s success in the Juniors was all the more remarkable because in the qualification rounds (which are shot with the seniors and are the exact same targets as the seniors) he shot 120 out of 125 which was the top score in juniors and would have qualified him to shoot off to make the senior final.
He has a great ability to hold his nerve under pressure, as he had to contend with television cameras and crowds watching and as he was the only GB shooter to win a European Medal in Olympic Trap at this shoot, the whole team would be pinning their hopes on him gaining a medal.
Theo is pursuing his dream to get to the 2020 Olympics and follow in the footsteps of his brother Ed Ling, who was a medallist in the 2012 Olympics. Good luck Theo – we hope you make it!
