TRINITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP SUCCESS FOR PRIOR STUDENT

Prior Park College student Harriet Garner has won an exceptional Choral Scholarship to Trinity College, Cambridge after she achieved top academic A-level grades required to study Theology, as well as winning out in a series of musical auditions. Trinity is widely considered to be the best mixed-voice choir in Cambridge, a city where the quality of college choirs is already world-class.
Other students at Prior Park have further been recognised for their musical achievements and involvement both locally and nationally.
Sixth Form students Georgia Entwisle, Teuta Martinovic, Bear Hutchison and Alistair Addley all attended the Eton Choral Course where they sang in a master class with Sarah Walker and performed in a BBC broadcast Evensong from Queen’s College, Oxford.
Alexander Butt entered a BBC Proms composition competition and was invited to two workshops at the Royal College of Music over the summer, based on writing film music. Alexander is preparing music for the Prior Park College production of Oresteia next January, as well as an entry for the Bath Film Festival composition competition. Both Alexander and Georgia Entwisle have been selected to join a select small group of Young Curators who will work with the Wiltshire Music Centre in an innovative programme designed to train arts professionals of the future.
Finlay Dove and Angus Fender attended the annual residential course with the National Schools Symphony Orchestra for one week at Malvern College. The week saw concentrated music practice that culminated in a concert programme with works by Elgar and Holst where Finlay and Angus represented Prior Park in the NSSO brass section.
Sylvan Biscoe performed with Worcestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra at Marlborough Jazz festival, Music for You Summer School Jazz course, The Wavendon Music Camp, Bath Folk festival and Shooting Roots at Towersey Festival.
Spike Clarkson had a great week at Tonbridge School in Kent with the National Youth Choir. Next for Spike and NYC is the War Requiem at the Royal Festival Hall on Remembrance Day.
Sebrina Lambert Rose participated in a 10 day music course at Wells Cathedral School. On the course she studied composition, piano and cello as well as taking part in a string orchestra, clarinet trio and choir. She also had her own composition performed by tutors on the course.
Theo Elwell, a member of the National Youth Chamber Orchestra, joined a group of young London musicians to make a concert tour of Tuscany, including a concert in Lucca Cathedral.
