Winner of the Bishop’s Stortford Picture Book Award announced.

Following a vote, in which 16 local schools participated, the winner of the 10th Bishop’s Stortford Picture Book Award was announced at a ceremony last Wednesday as

Baby’s First Bank Heist by Jim Whalley and Stephen Collins.

2nd place went to There’s A Dragon In Your Book by Tom Fletcher and Greg Abbott.

And 3rd place to Tropical Terry by Jarvis.

Many congratulations to Messrs Whalley and Collins for their first Picture Book Award win, a great achievement for their first published book together.

Sarah McIntyre, illustrator and winner of the first Bishop’s Stortford Picture Book Award in 2010, announced the winner after an hour of excitement in the company of shortlisted authors and illustrators who introduced a cast of sea creatures, dragons, mice and a money-minded baby to a very enthusiastic audience of pupils from the schools from Hertfordshire and Essex who had taken part and cast almost 2000 votes.

Maggie Garrett, Senior School Librarian and Picture Book Award Coordinator said, “I would like to thank everyone involved and especially all those who have helped make this event happen for the last 10 years. It was lovely to see so many local primary schools return to join us for this award, made even more special with the return of our very first Picture Book Award winner, Sarah McIntyre, for our 10th anniversary Festival of Literature.”
