Merchant Taylors’ Boys’ School Hosts ‘Talking Minds’ Mental Health Conference
25 Jun 2019
On Friday 24th May, Merchant Taylors’ Boys’ School played host to a conference on mental health, entitled “Talking Minds”.
Educators from all over the country came to hear talks from mental health experts Natasha Devon MBE, Jonny Benjamin MBE, Dick Moore, and former England Rugby League International, Danny Sculthorpe. They told their stories and gave advice on how schools can improve the mental well-being of students. Staggered throughout the day were workshops sessions delivered by a range of experts from the University of Liverpool, ChildLine and Merseyside Mindfulness.
A proportion of tickets for the event were given to local primary and secondary schools, and it is hoped that more events like this can be put on in the future. Organiser, and Head of Middle School, Randal Yates said “It was a pleasure to host Talking Minds and we were extremely privileged to have the likes of Natasha and Jonny speak. If the advice given out by industry professionals to the teachers in attendance can help even one student, then the event has been a success.”
“The well-being of our students is of upmost importance, and it is even more important in the age of end-of-course examinations to put strategies in place to help support pupils through their journey at school.”
