KINGHAM HILL SCHOOL PUPIL CONVERTS HARD WORK INTO RUGBY SUCCESS
24 Nov 2016
Kingham Hill School Year 13 pupil Joshua Lima recently celebrated taking the next step in his rugby career after being accepted into the highly regarded London Wasps Academy.
Joshua began his training at the Wasps Academy earlier this month following successful trials in Coventry.
All players selected to join have to show a high level of rugby ability and commitment. This was tested during trials through a number of drills and matches that assessed speed, power and ball handling abilities.
During his time at the academy, where former and current England players began their international careers, Joshua will take part in weekly squad training, gym sessions and matches against other academies.
Speaking about being successful in his trials, Josh said, “It has always been my dream to play the sport I love. I hope to become the best player I possibly can be and to learn from the very best.
“The academy gives me an opportunity to develop at a higher level and to learn from the very best, whilst also giving me the tools to improve myself.”
Joshua’s rugby achievement follows fellow Year 13 pupil, Adam Smith’s summer of success after being chosen to play for the Irish Exiles, a rugby organisation that represents Ireland at youth international level.
Playing for the U18 squad’s tour of Ireland, Adam got to play in the team’s winning matches against the renowned Leinster and Ulster rugby clubs.
