Homefield U10s rugby team qualify for National Finals in style
19 Feb 2016
Following a hugely successful season, in which the U10s have remained unbeaten, the Homefield boys travelled to the regional qualifiers of the National Prep Schools Rugby Tournament at Epsom College last weekend in a rich vein of form and with plenty of confidence.
Standing between them and a place in the National Finals were some of the strongest rugby schools in the region. However, far from letting the weight of expectation or nerves affect them, the boys put in a quite outstanding performance, winning all four qualifying matches and topping the group.
The results were as follows:
HPS 20 v 10 King’s College Junior School
HPS 15 v 5 Feltonfleet
HPS 15 v 0 St Columba’s College
HPS 10 v 5 Rokeby
It is hard to pick out any single player as this truly was a team effort. The boys showed tremendous tenacity in defence and wonderful creativity in attack. They will arrive at the Finals, being held at Epsom College on Sunday 6th March, fearing no one and confident of going all the way. No doubt they will be backed all the way by their vociferous and adoring parents who provided some excellent support at the weekend.
