Trinity Triathlon named ‘Children’s Event of the Year’ and ‘London Region Children’s Event of the Year’ by Triathlon England

The Trinity Triathlon has been nationally recognised by Triathlon England as ‘Children’s Event of the Year’. The event has also been awarded ‘London Region’s Children’s Event of the Year’ for the second consecutive year.

Hosted annually by Trinity School, Croydon, and with the help of local club Crystal Palace Triathletes, Trinity Triathlon was established in 2011 in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics.

Now in its seventh year, the event has become a real community occasion with just under 500 competitors aged 8-19 competing, making it one of the biggest of its kind in the UK.

Tim Deakin, Event Organiser, said: “this is a wonderful accolade and we are delighted that the event has been recognised both nationally and within London. We’ve seen the Trinity Triathlon go from strength to strength over the years, and these awards are a testament to all the hard work and dedication of our volunteer marshals – so thank you to them”.

Over 100 volunteers from both the School community and Crystal Palace Triathletes are drafted in on the day to ensure the triathlon’s success. The School also liaises closely with Transport for London who allow  the closure of over one mile of Addiscombe Road.
