14 Sep 2015

A level candidates at Stonyhurst College in Lancashire have achieved an outstanding set of results this year, with 71% of papers scoring A*, A and B grades. These are the best A level results ever achieved at the College, and will see many students now heading off to top UK universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, University College London, Imperial College, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol, and many other top Russell Group universities, as well as prestigious institutions in the USA and Europe.

Overall, 20% of all of this year’s candidates have scored straight A*/A grades in their A levels. High achievers include Anthony Chow from Hong Kong, who has secured 5 A* grades and will now study Engineering at Cambridge. David Richardson from South Wales has achieved 4 A* grades and will go on to study Chemistry at Oxford.
Stonyhurst Headmaster, Andrew Johnson, said: “My colleagues and I are delighted for our students. Achieving such outstanding grades is a fitting reward for their hard work. I also congratulate and thank Stonyhurst teachers for the excellent support they have given their students.”

The College now also offers the IB diploma. This summer, Stonyhurst pupils also achieved excellent IB results, with an average score of 32 points, well above the world average of 30.
