Breakfast with the New Headmistress at Staines Preparatory School
23 Sep 2014
Last week the newly appointed headmistress at Staines Prep, Ms Samantha Sawyer, held a series of informal breakfasts at which parents were invited to openly discuss their views of the school. It was also a special opportunity to officially meet Ms Sawyer and her senior management team.
The breakfasts were relaxed and casual. Samantha introduced herself and then opened up discussions by asking parents to talk about their experiences and opinions, finding out what works well within the school and highlighting any areas which could be improved upon.
Many valuable opinions were voiced; topics included the ‘family-feel’ of the school and the caring nature of the teachers. Parents were also encouraged by how much their children were learning and the amount of interesting and engaging approaches teachers were using to facilitate this.
Ms Sawyer then listened to ideas for potential development to further enhance the school. This has since led to the implementation of some website improvements which will be seen from in the New Year, as well as talks to create a series of new parent workshops with the aim of how parents can support their child’s learning at home.
Mrs Sawyer said: “It was wonderful to meet so many parents over the course of the week. I valued the positive contributions as well as some ideas on how to progress the school. I am very much looking forward to my future here.”
