A World of Literary Fun at Bromsgrove School
07 Mar 2012
Young pupils at Bromsgrove School celebrated World Book Day last week with a number of exciting activities. Pupils at the Preparatory School came in dressed as their favourite characters – from Where’s Wally to Harry Potter, Red Riding Hood to Cinderella. Meanwhile at the Pre-Preparatory School, pupils were treated to a visit by author and illustrator Cat Weatherill, who told the children some fantastic stories before a book signing session. Staff and children at the Pre-Prep also came to School dressed as their favourite book characters and took part in various book-themed activities – including a Where’s Wally search in the School garden and paired reading activities where the older children read some of their favourite books to the younger children in School. Curtis Jobling, an author and illustrator who has worked on the TV adaptation of Bob the Builder, paid a special visit for the day. He read some of his best-selling stories to pupils from both the Preparatory and Pre-Preparatory Schools and showed television animations that he has created. The pupils enjoyed learning how to draw their own characters, including ‘Bob the Builder’.
