End of Year Celebrations at Bromsgrove School

01 Sep 2014

Bromsgrove School held its annual Commemoration Day on Saturday, 28th June. In the grounds of the Worcester Road School, families from over 30 countries joined in the celebrations as staff said farewell to their students, and for the Headmaster and the Sixth Form in particular it was the end of an era.

In a break with tradition at the 500-year-old School, the Headmaster, Chris Edwards was this year’s guest speaker, as he departs for United World College of South East Asia at the end of the Summer. The highly sought-after Cookes Prize was handed to local boy, Declan Amphlett, the Tony Limbert Trophy to Hannah Trow, the Ben Showell Memorial Rose Bowl to Simon Hotchin and the Kelly Bicknell Award to Georgina Flowerdew. Special prizes were also given to Senior Boarders, Margarita Domushieva and Philip Rowsell (who was also winner of the Paul Sawtell Trophy), Heads of School Samuel Leather and Emily Taylor and their deputies Daniel Garvie and Andrea Ellinas.

As is customary at the end of the day, pupils lined up in their Houses to bid farewell to their teachers and fellow students, whilst the Head Boy and Head Girl ended proceedings by handing over the official School flag to Mr Edwards, and then to the incoming Headmaster, Mr Clague. The evening’s Sixth Form Ball followed on Gordon Green.

Bromsgrove School bids farewell to its Headmaster of ten years, Chris Edwards and wishes all of its Upper Sixth pupils the very best for the future.
