CHRIST COLLEGE HOSTS A UNIVERSITIES FAIR

19 Aug 2014

ON TUESDAY, 1ST JULY 2014 CHRIST COLLEGE HOSTED A UNIVERSITIES FAIR FOR OUR OWN LOWER SIXTH AND FIFTH FORM AND YEAR 12 PUPILS FROM A NUMBER OF OTHER SECONDARY SCHOOLS.

The event was attended by representatives from a number of universities and higher education advisors.

The highlight of the day was a keynote address by Professor Richard Davies, the Vice Chancellor of Swansea University where he gave a very practical, pragmatic talk on decision-making factors when choosing a university. After the keynote speech, there was an opportunity for pupils and parents to talk to university representatives and higher education advisors over coffee.  Throughout the afternoon a number of universities manned their exhibition stands where pupils found out information about institutions and the courses they offer.

Institutions in attendance included the Universities of Aberystwyth, Aston, Bangor, Bath, Bath Spa, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Cardiff Metropolitan, Exeter, Gloucestershire, Harper Adams, Nottingham, Sheffield, Swansea, Trinity St David, Worcester, the University of South Wales, the University of the West of England and the Royal Agricultural University.  Representatives from Careers Wales, Student Finance Wales and the Inspiring Futures Foundation were also on hand to offer careers advice.

It is rare for representatives of so many different institutions and organisations to be gathered together at a school, so it is hoped that those attending, pupils, parents and careers advisors both from Christ College and the wider community, were able to make the most of this opportunity to find out about higher education options and issues.
